PROGRAMMES

The School has been established as a centre of learning for advanced studies in the various areas of environmental science. The regular programmes offered by the School are M.Sc., M.Phil and Ph.D.  besides a few short term courses.

 i)  M.Sc. Environment Science and Management

                Duration : 2 years (4 semesters)

                Seats          : 10

                Eligibility : B.Sc. Degree in any of the optional subjects - Botany/Zoology/Chemistry/Physics/Life Science/ Environmental Science/ Environmental Management/ Geography/Geology/ Microbiology/ Biotechnology/ Biochemistry/ Plant or Animal Science/ Agriculture/ Fisheries/ Aquaculture/ Forestry/Hoticulture/ B.Tech in Civil, Mechanical, Chemical, Environmental or equivalent examination with not less than 55% marks in Part III.

Selection         : Qualifying Marks + Entrance Test + Group Discussion + Interview  

ii) M.Sc. Environment Science and Disaster Management

                Duration : 2 years (4 semesters)

                Seats          : 10

                Eligibility : B.Sc. Degree in any subject with not less than 55% marks in Part III.

Selection         : Qualifying Marks + Entrance Test + Group Discussion + Interview

iii) M.Phil. in Environment Management

Duration    : 1 year (2 semesters)

Seats          : 8

Eligibility : Masters Degree in Botany/Zoology/Physics/Chemistry/Life Science/ Environment Sciences/ Environment Science and Management/ Ecology/ Geology/ Earth Sciences/ Geography/ Microbiology/ Biotechnology/ Biochemistry/ Plant or Animal Science/ Fishery science/ Aquaculture/ Forestry/ Hoticulture/ Disaster Management/ agriculture/Engineering with not less than 55% marks.

Selection         : Qualifying Marks + Entrance Test + Interview 

iv) Ph.D. (Full time & Part time)

School offers Ph.D. Proramme in: Environmental stress studies, Environmental Biology, Biodiversity and conservation biology, Biodiversity characterization, Aerobiology and allergy, Vegetation analysis through RS & GIS, Wetland biodiversity, Environmental chemistry, Environmental biotechnology and solid waste management, Aquatic microbiology, Microbial toxicology, Bioremediation, Climate change, Environmental Impact Assessment, Environmental Geology, Disaster Management.

Eligibility : PG in any branch of science other than mathematics

Selection  : NET/M.Phil. / University Entrance

v) PG. Diploma Course

The School has designed a PG diploma course in Ecotourism (now being held at High Range Environmental Research Centre, an outreach centre of the School at Nedumkandam ) is conducted under the distance education stream of the University.
