A research team from Mahatma Gandhi University emerged as a winner at the Microbiome Ideathon, conducted as part of the Microbiome Conclave jointly organised by the Kerala Startup Mission and the Centre for Excellence in Microbiome in Kochi.
The ideathon aimed to recognise groundbreaking microbiome-based innovations. S. Gayathri and Jeena Susan Joseph, researchers at the MGU School of Biosciences under the guidance of Dr. Keerthi T.R. , were among the four teams selected from over 60 applicants.
Their winning project, “Silkworm Probiotic: A Sustainable Solution for Enhanced Sericulture,” introduces a probiotic-based approach to boost silkworm production and enhance silk quality, offering a sustainable advancement in sericulture.
